2020 FALL TACKLE FOOTBALL INFO

Jr. Wildkit Family,

I went live on Facebook last week to let people know about this season.
I waited as long as I could to send this email. Part of me hoping the news was different.
All youth tackle football in Illinois has been removed from playing games in the Fall. This was a decision by the IHSA, IDPH and the guidelines set by the Governor of Illinois. We will not be playing games this Fall. We are leaving registration open as I am hopeful we may be able to have a Spring Season (Mar-May). I will know more in Jan or Feb. Our league voted unanimously to shut down for the Fall.

I am not aware of any Youth Tackle programs that will be playing games this season. The guidelines and rules forbid it.
Some may have practices, but no contact, no equipment and no games. I don't think there will be any flag games as well.
Be careful of any programs offering games with other towns.

All of these decisions were made out of concern for the safety of our Players, Families, Coaches and our communities.
The thought of losing even one player to the Covid-19 Virus is hard to process. We have lost two parents of former players this year.
The risk is just too much. I wish I had better news. Tomorrow would have started my 21st season in a row with the Jr. Wildkits Football program. I am still coming to grips with what that means for me and my family.

Whether we have games in the Spring will depend on everyone being safe and following safety protocols. I wear a mask all day at work and have added many new levels of safety to our daily operations. I hope you will all do the same and support each other.

I would like any one who would like to play in the Spring to register as soon as possible so I can look at our numbers. We will not collect any money for registration until we know we will have a season. We are a grassroots organization and could always use some help financially. Send me (Coach Himrod) an email if you would like to donate. We have acquired over 70 new Blue helmets and would like to add more before the season starts. We are also wanting to give out all the Craig Thompson Scholarships to our players going to college. A big thanks to all who have donated already.

Again, be safe and help each other. I expect amazing grades from all players with the extra time to study. I look forward to coaching you all very soon.
